Climate & Energy Policy Program (CEPP)
CEPP operates at the interface of policy analysis, academic research and education, and stakeholder engagement. It serves as a practical, timely, and neutral voice focused on informing decision making on climate and energy law and regulation. -
Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources
Housed in the Doerr School of Sustainability, this program develops the knowledge, skills, perspectives, and ways of thinking necessary to help solve the world’s most significant environmental and resource sustainability challenges. -
Existential Risks Initiative
The Stanford Existential Risks Initiative is dedicated to mitigating existential risks, such as extreme climate change, nuclear winter, global pandemics (and other risks from synthetic biology), and risks from advanced artificial intelligence.
Engagement Opportunities

Environmental Law Society (ELS)
ELS builds a broad coalition of students interested in environmental law, conservation, and energy issues by bringing students, faculty and staff from both inside and outside the law school together in a number of ways. -
Environmental Policy Internships in California (EPIC)
EPIC fellowships offer undergraduates a paid, full-time summer experience in environmental policy. Fellows work 10–12 weeks with professional mentors, contributing to real sustainability challenges. Stipends range from $7,500 to $10,500 based on need. -
Stanford Abundance
We are a group of students, faculty, and staff advancing the Abundance Agenda, a political movement focused on institutional reform, so government can actually deliver for people.
