DEPARTMENT OF POLITICS

DEMOCRACY

The course will consist of ten classes in each of which a particular topic will be discussed.  You will see from the list below that discussion of a topic will be linked to a particular text or texts, and it is, of course, essential that the appropriate texts should be readCopies (originals and/or photocopies) of these texts can normally be found in the Departmental Library.

Each student will be required to write two essays of about 3,000 words each.  The first essay MUST be handed in by the last day of the Spring term, the second essay by the last day of the Summer term.  One of the essays must be on one of the class topics and the other on one of the additional essay topics listed in Section D.
